We are finally here and settled somewhat into our new house. Here are Malcolm and Henry at the Dane County Fair this afternoon. This car ride was Malcolm's favorite. Henry loved the kiddie roller coasters. We all, of course, loved the fair food and looking at the livestock in the barns!
All in all, things are going really well and we are enjoying being here. We aren't fully unpacked yet, but we are getting there slowly. Malcolm and Henry already love playing together and hate saying goodbye when playtime is over. They love playing with cars, trains, princess shoes, blocks, balls - well, pretty much anything that is around. Henry's getting good at showing Malcolm the ropes when something new comes up.
We had a party at our house to say goodbye to some of the kids and families that I had worked with at All Saints. In this picture, Malcolm is hangin out with some of the Senior High kids and learning the game of "toss the ball over Malcolm's head." He had a great time, going from room to room, playing, eating, and commanding attention from everyone. Needless to say, he was a tired boy after all that play and fun. He also learned to say (with lots of gusto) "Hot Dog!"
It was a great party and I'm so thankful for all the wonderful people that I've gotten to know during my time at All Saints Church. On one hand I'm sad to leave great people like this behind, and on the other hand, I'm ready to be in Madison, with family, in a new house, with a new job and a new kind of life style. Three days and counting!
A few weeks ago, we went to the Santa Monica peir and beach. We had a great time running, playing and eating! Thought I would share Malcolm's pure joy at being barefoot and running in the sand! He absolutely loved it. He also enjoyed crawling in the dry sand and throwing it everywhere. I actually think his favorite part was walking and climbing on the boardwalk with his cousins, Evelyn and Catherine! He and Evelyn (the older of the two girls) were like two peas in a pod and loved playing together and having dinner together that evening. I'm so glad they came to visit us and that we had this fun day!
